Cargo Screening: Providing Cargo SafetyJuly 27, 2010 on 8:40 am | In News | Comments OffThe cargo screening is one of the most important parts of importing and exporting from different places. North America and Europe are certainly on the top of the list of continents that are in great need of these very important screening services. Shipments that are checked good will help make people more safe. If cargo that is inspected seems questionable it needs to be reported promptly to the authorities and this can help save many lives if done correctly. Since the war on terrorists organizations started growing things have changed a great deal and this makes screening of cargo much more important. These Terrorist groups are constantly trying to find new ways to injure people that are innocent by sending different packages with explosive devices in them to blow things up. An international law called the safe port act, which is an industry standard and has made changes to this law frequently over the years has many guidelines for screening shipments internationally. The laws have been made much more strict since the 9/11 attacks on the United States of America and the railways attacked in Europe. The hunt for Osama Bin Laden continues and terrorist recruiting by AL Qaeda is increasing, which means many countries are still in grave danger. Even Passenger based companies must look at items before they can let them on board whether it is air or sea. This screening is something that will not decrease in the future and will probably increase more. People can only bring certain items on board planes and must use a checklist to decrease the chances of an attack. There are many ways to find bombs and illegal contraband and x-ray screening is a very popular way in the industry. An x-ray machine is able to look inside many packages before they are allowed on board which makes it an important part of screening in today’s world. One of the greatest assets we have for this job and seeking out unwanted items are dogs. These specially trained dogs are able to use the sense of smell to find almost any threat that may be unnoticed. Security personnel also play one of the biggest roles inspecting things visually and are able to seek out anything that may be out of place or just strange looking including the people in the area. There are many safety reasons that are increasing the use of cargo screening and it will keep many people on the planet safe if it continues.
